Celebrating the contributions of Canberra’s renters through creative arts.

Each year International Tenants’ Day is celebrated in Canberra throughout September and October. 

 

This year, International Tenants’ Day will fall on Monday 1st October with the theme: Life on a lease, a lease on life’.

 

 

WHO:  All Canberra renters are invited to submit a piece of art into our annual Art competition and Exhibition event.

 

WHAT:  This year's theme is: 'Life on a lease, a lease on life'. Free entry. Cash prizes.

 

WHEN:  Entry forms due date: Monday 3rd Sept.  Delivering artwork to exhibition: Monday 17th Sept 12:00-2:00pm

WHERE:  Belconnen Community Centre Gallery: 26 Chandler St, Belconnen ACT 2617

HOW TO ENTER:

 

Thanks to the digital age, there's a few ways to enter: online or hard copy.

Entries are drawn at the exhibition awards event on Thursday 4 October at 5 - 7 pm.

Why should I enter?


Besides the chance to meet like-minded renters, and the substantial cash prizes, the ITDCBR Art Competition & Exhibition offers you the chance to exhibit your artwork for free!

... that's $500 first, $300 second, $200 third & $150 photographic prize; to be exact.


What can I enter?


Artworks of any medium will be considered, as long as they tie in with this year's theme or tenancy.*
*Artworks must comply with terms and conditions

How much is entry?

 

Entry into the exhibition and competition is completely free!

Who can enter the competition?


If you are currently a renting in Canberra, you are eligible to enter this competition. This includes:

    - occupants,

    - caravan parks, 

    - boarders, lodgers, 

    - university students etc

How many artworks can I enter?

 

Entrants are permitted to enter one artwork into each category. This means that, at a maximum, one entrant can enter one photograph and one other medium.

What is this year's theme?

 

This year's theme is, 'Life on a lease, a lease on life.'


If you are having an artists block relating to this year's theme, check out the Tenants' Union ACT Instagram for inspiration points. As long as your artwork relates to renting, and complies with terms and conditions, it will be accepted!

How important is answering the theme?

 

In order to be accepted into the exhibition, your artwork must at least relate to renting/tenancy.

For the competition aspect, artworks will be judged according to their creativity in response to the theme.
